HUP Helping Haiti Foundation, Inc.
About Us

The HUP Helping Haiti Foundation, Inc. was granted its 501 (c) (3) status in May of 2009.  The organization was birthed out of a desire to help Haiti.  The original mission was to create an upscale magazine that only focused on the positive side of Haiti and Haitian people.  The positive contributions Haitians make to the world go unnoticed amid the negative events that occur.  The magazine will focus on that positive news and information about Haiti and Haitians all over the world.  This will educate the international community as regards the same.  The name of the Magazine is Haiti Unique Presentation (HUP).  It will be in publication no later than 2012.  This magazine will have a profound effect on the self-esteem of the Haitian people currently residing in Haiti and those living abroad.  It will also create a huge new platform for advertisers to reach the Haitian people everywhere.  Foreseeing the success of the magazine, HUP wanted to make sure that a percentage of the subscription and advertising proceeds be donated to make a difference in Haiti.  They also wanted to make sure the proceeds were used effectively, which is why The HUP Helping Haiti Foundation, Inc. was established.

KEY PERSONNEL INCLUDE:

Marie L. Simervil currently attends Argosy University and is a second year DBA student.  She obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in accounting from CUNY University of York College, and received her Masters in Business Administration degree from University of Phoenix.  Ms. Simervil spent some time employed as an auditor with the NY City Board of Education.  However, her heart has always been with her native country (Haiti).  She realized that there are a lot of Haitians here in the U.S. that desired someone who understands and speaks their language to take care of their tax and accounting needs.  Therefore, she started her own tax and accounting firm (New Star Services, Inc.) 10 years ago.  New Star Services has continued to grow and currently has 5 employees and provides tax and accounting services to 1500 clients.  Ms. Simervil is also a partner in Y-VO-LO, a company doing business in Haiti that is committed to providing clean drinking water, juices, and other products to the Haitian people – and eventually the world.
